What is online counseling (also referred to as virtual/distance counseling or telehealth)? Online counseling is similar to face to face, traditional counseling, but we would be meeting through a secure and confidential video platform. Online counseling allows you to pursue counseling from the comfort of your own home (or from another private location of your choosing).

How long does treatment last? As a client, you have the right to discontinue treatment at any time. Treatment times may vary and it is important to remember that clients progress at different speeds depending on their unique circumstances.

What do the letters after your name mean (LPC/MHSP, NCC, M.Ed)? Licensed Professional Counselor/Mental Health Service Provider, National Certified Counselor, and Masters of Education.

Is what I say in a session confidential? From soundproofing therapy sessions using sound machines to discussing in detail confidentiality and its limits during your initial session- trust, privacy, & confidentiality are key components to successful therapy.

In accordance with TN state law and my professional code of ethics, there are times that I would be required to break confidentiality. We will discuss these exceptions to confidentiality in detail during our initial meeting and throughout the treatment process.

What should I expect at the first session? The first session will be used to go over your initial intake paperwork including an Informed Consent to Treatment. I will also use this time to get to know you and your goals for treatment.

How long does a session last? All intake appointments and sessions last 45-50 minutes.

What if I need to cancel my session? As a client, your time is highly respected and set aside just for you. A 24 hour notice is required for any session cancellations. If a 24 hour notice is not given, you will be responsible for paying the agreed upon late cancellation fee.
